Who we are

Pink Isn’t Always Pretty, Inc. (P.I.A.P.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2009 in memory of Kimberlly Renee Thomas, who lost her battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer just before her 32nd birthday.

Kimberlly’s story reflects a painful reality: women of color face higher mortality rates from breast cancer. Pink Isn’t Always Pretty was created to recognize and respond to these disparities by presenting the lived experiences of affected communities, increasing awareness, supporting empowerment, and encouraging meaningful public dialogue and policy change.
